1) Most likely not. I have heard it may take 5 generations before the genetics begin to break down (assuming siblings are not breeding with each other). I may be wrong on this - it's just what I heard. Basically you are left to trust the seller as to what generation they are. Wild caught, you are pretty much guaranteed to have excellent gentics and with F1 too. Beginning wth F2 I think the chances of inbreeding increase.

Ideally there shouldn't be any difference between wc's, f1's or tank raised visually, so if you're getting them from a reputable dealer you won't be able to tell, unless he has papers to prove that the parents are wild caught and subsequent fry are f1's. Venting would be the best way to sex any monomorphic specie.
They are tank raised more than likely really haven't heard of wild caught Maingano's being imported..
