I recently planted some vallis that I had posted to me. They have slowly been melting away.... How do I stop this? Thanks
Tony

No, using something called TNC fertiliser. So it's normal for them to do this?

I bought 4 corkscrew val's they all melted when planted in my tank but 3 of them grew back and look great the final one never really grew back it sprouted a couple inch sing leaf a couple times which kept dying so i got rid of it.

Good news :) will have to be patient then haha. They seem to have slowed down with the melting and seem to have a few new shoots on them. The twisted vallis seems to be having more problems than the straight....

What temperature do you keep the tank at? I just planted some corkscrew vallisneria about 10 days ago - and it became sort of transparent. Some of the leaves died away but others are either turning yellowish (very few and at the tip) and others are going back to green.. but still maintaining that semi transparent look like they are melting away. I keep my tank at 85F - I am setting it up for Discus. My swords are doing great..micro grass a bit less. I have a 33 gallon long tank, using liquid CO2 (only once as of now - after I noticed the plants looking gooey) and the light is a 96w 6700K.

My corkscrews are kept at around 80F now, when I put them in when setting up the tank it was around 83F, took 2-3 weeks for mine to really rebound, now they're all nice green and healthy. No CO2 for mine just liquid plant food every couple weeks. 29G under 2 T5's 1 6700k 1 10000k. When I first got them they only had 4-5 leaves each now thats doubled, haven't grown as tall as I thought they would though only only about 12"

I dose a multi fertiliser once a week and no Co2, the tank is at 79. They are doing so well now, they all melted now they are coming back strong and thicker than before.
