I have the information in a book at home.. lol in storage. But I am sure this would make a great discussion and helpful to livebearer keepers here. Are merry widows Brackish Phallichthys amates ametes ? Are they a light brackish or hard core?
I just recently got a trio and am keeping them with Endlers right now. So i am curious and would like some imput. I will probably find out my own answer in a little bit but still very curious on everyones imput.

Wow, you are fast and good Childawg. But dont tell anyone i said that ;)
But what i have found there isnt much about these guys. I know there were popular way back when but not anymore. It is really interesting how many of the live bearers have fallen into disfavor amoung aquarists. I am still thinking on trying to add some Goodieds to my livebearer collection.

My lips are sealed. I'm going to look at Dawes to see if he has any more on these guys...back in five.

I'd love to see a livebearer comeback...this is getting sad. All Dawes has is basically that water chemistry is not critical, but consistency is.

Yes, live beares should come back. :)
i will have to look at some of my books at home, since i am at work here. But i do have them in the right setup with the endlers. They are gorgous little fish and i plan to pass some young to some of my friends up here. :) i like to pass the crack around.

Dang...too bad I'm only in Mpls once or twice a year...otherwise I'd visit the crack den!~Matthew

I just found this to be humorous
. Feeds on ooze, detritus, diatoms and occasionally on filamentous algae and aquatic insects

Feeds on ooze, now is this a scientific observation or what? very techinical.. What kinda ooze where they referring to on that site.
But still it had the info i was looking for, they are not Brackish but freshwater.
