Probably a dumb question but im gonna ask anyways

will Miracle Grow work alright for aquatic plants?

Likely, but say goodbye to the fish. I'd avoid using it, unless its a plant-no fish tank. Really though I'm not sure how it would affect the fish.

Don't use it...it's 'loaded' with urea/ammonia. It would very quickly kill off your fish.

Even with no fish, the amount of ammonia/um it contains will be so high that algae will most likely be able to take it instead, and it'll proliferate.

yeah thats what i figured. im not going to try it

i only asked cause i live in a small town where its hard to get stuff to grow auqatic plants. Ill check out the new hydroponics store. maybe they have some good stuff.

another quick questions. Ive already tested my water and i know it is safe to inject co2.

so im feeding 2x2l pop bottle reactors into an airstone. the bubbles rise into the flow of water coming into the tank from my aqua clear 200. there seems to be little tiny bubbles everywhere in the tank. should i assume then that im getting a good co2 mixture into the water?

with an aquaclear you can make a very simple and effective 'reactor'. just take a plastic bottle cap, drill 2 holes in it. the large one will be to fit the ac200's stem through, and the small one will be for your co2 tube. Now shove the cap onto the stem just past the intake, and shove the tubing from the top of the cap. Now all bubbles will go in this 'mini bell' and will get sucked into the filter and pretty much all dissolve. only downside is that there is a slurp noise, which doesn't bother me and is quite comforting knowing that the bubbles are still going.

also I forgot if you have a small tank you can push your co2 to dangerous levels, mine 10g went to 38ppm before I tested with a kh kit and had to lower my water level a bit to create more surface agitation.

well i had originally put the air stone under the intake for my aqua clear but the noise got kinda annoying. the bubbles are so small that it made my filter sound like a open pop bottle bubbling right next to me

the bubbles are staying under water for quite a while being pushed around the tank...im mostly concerned with the amount of bubbles. it seems like alot.

do you think there is alot of co2 being diffused this way?

Just read your second post. mine is a 25g. thats why i was worried about the amount of bubbles. if the diffusion rate is low then it should be fine....i think

What is the PH/KH of the tank. That will tell you what youre getting for Co2. As far as plant supplies, if your lazy like me, and have a piece of plastic in your wallet, buy online ferts for your plants. Otherwise, you could mix your own, which I may try(On a new tank that I'm setting up, no fish at all, no shrimp for a few weeks), but I'm always afraid that I'll screw up on the mix and kill off a tank :soda:

I would suggest not using an air stone with DIY CO2. It creates back pressure and can cause an explosion and mess in and around your tank.
Better to just take the end of the tubing and stick it into the bottom of the intake siphon tube of the AC. The impeller will chop it up and return it to the water table.
