A geez, I've been super busy this week and missed my weekly water change. I feel kinda bad but everything in my tank is perfect right now so I'm sure it won't cause any problems. Anybody here ever get too busy and miss one?

I do 2 water changes per week..usually 30-40%.

one thing about being consistent is..it won't cause irreparable harm to miss one.

Just get a change in as soon as you can to make up for it.

Your tank is stocked with heavy waste fish so trying nto to miss them is best. That being said missing one shouldn't hurt. If it does then your tank is far too over stocked.

Lately I've been busy alot and have been doing water changes every 2 weeks instead of every week. I had some problems with high nitrates in one of my tanks and think that caused a few of my Panda cories to die (that and the nasty gravel), so I'm making sure to do weekly water changes now. Missing one wouldn't have hurt, but it was the buildup of doing every other week changes for a month or so that most likely did it. If my tanks weren't overstocked, I think I could get away with missing more. ;)

Missing water changes exposes your fish to unusual water conditions. Some fish are more sensitive to water conditions than others. So the big question is does it hurt to miss them, yes and no. I dont miss them because it can cause stress if the Nitrates get too high. Ph may be more prone to swing if water changes are missed as well as you are not replenishing the trace elements lost during the course of the time between water changes. Will it kill them probabally not but they will benefit more if they are done religiously and on a regular basis.

Missing a water change every now and then does not spell the end of the world. Hey, it happens. As long as you have a consistent water change schedule and stick to it, missing once in a while should be no big deal.
