missing shrimp

hello all,

i had two cleaner shrimp in my 25 g fowlr tank. They had been in the tank for at least 3 months or so. Both were looking healthy when I last saw them. I did not get a chance to turn on the tank's light for one day and today one shrimp is missing. No body anywhere, i also checked around the outside of the tank to find a dried corpse, but found nothing. I'm wondering what could have happened. Thanks for replying.

Healthy shrimp will molt their shells every so often. When they do so, they will hide for a day or so until their new shells harden. So give him some time to reappear.

On the other hand, shrimp are at their most vulnerable when they molt (the reason why they hide) so . . .

I've lost a crab before in my FW and I looked in everything....didn't see him for 2-3days then all of a sudden there he was walking on the bottom. They seem to be able to dissaper easily.

i had bought some shrimp one day and the next day both were gone. i looked everywhere for them with now luck. while doing one of my monthly water changes i decided to pull my filter sock out of the sump for cleaning and found the shrimp down there. somehow they crawled into the overflow and both got sucked to the bottom into the sump. if you have a sump try looking in there.
