My Pseudotropheus Acei "Ngara" Whitetail have mixed with my blue cobalt. I have 2 Acei holding as well. I thought of it as a little strange. I wasn't accually planning to breed any of these fish yet, I just wanted them for show in my front room just for now. My question is.... should I keep them? I have always been told "there are to many mix breeds, exc.", but I want to know what people here think on this.

sure, why not. but under no circumstances should you allow them to be distributed into the hobby. in other words, don't sell them, don't give any away, don't let them leave your tank.
sure hang on to them you may really like them, that is if any of them survive. all of the "purist cichlid people" will probably freak out but dont worry about them they'll get over themselves. As for as the mixes, mutts, and hybrids go I have recently raed quiet a few articles about these different varietys of chiclids, mollies and other freshwater fish that hybridize, with like type of course, in the wild without any help from us. so as long as you are enjoying yourself dont worryy about what anyone else thinks just have fun
I have a bunch of mbuna mutts from the tanks at the old Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco before it closed to be retrofitted for earth quakes. They are in my mixed mbuna show tank. If they are for "personal use only" and not going to be distributed, who cares! Enjoy!
I think whatever you decide to do, and whatever opinion you may form on the subject, please do as much research as you can about the implications of hybrids on the aquarium trade. Only then will you fully understand the subject and have a valid opinion.
The hybrids must not leave your house, not even to go to a friend's tank. This will be hard when one day you have to shut down your tanks and the fish are adults and you must choose what to do with them. So its best to let "nature" take its course and let the momma spit in the tank.
It doesn't matter if hybrids occur in the wild or not, but for the purpose of the aquarium hobby and ESPECIALLY with africans, please try not to create hybrids. There are far too many out there. I cant shop at any of my local pet stores anymore because virtually all the africans are hybridized.
Its frustrating for hobbyests, so please keep them in your home tanks and dont let them into the trade.
If things continue the way they are one day down the road all we'll have at our LFS is a grey/brown mutt called "assorted african".
