Bit of a strange question I guess, but does anyone else's gravel vacs develop mold after a while? I always find myself replacing mine more often than it seems like I should.

Wow... My old shake-vac NEVER has had any mold in it.
Pythons are dirty.
Ewwww...

Do you clear all the water out of it after you use it?

Guess I'll give the bleach solution a try next time.

Do you guys have any good methods to dry the hose? I can never seem to get mine completely dry, which is the reason I'm getting mold so often in the first place..

i roll mine up with the ends hanging down and hang it on a rack in the garage

never had mold on either of my pythons, sounds pretty nasty though :P

get it all the time here...I fill it with a hot water and bleach solution and let it sit for a while. Then flush it clean.

I think one of the keys is to keep the python in a dark place when storing it. I think mine is 50' and I stretch it out along the ceiling in the basement, it goes over a large black coated hook in the middle and both ends, with the ends hanging down about 4' on each side. Never have any mold growing.

I'd be afraid to just roll it up with some water residue in it.....I would think strange bacteria could grow in those little areas of water.

This is really strange. Since I have lived in AZ these past 5 years I never get mold on any of my Python hoses and not on my 5 gallon plastic RO bottles either and they sit across from a window. When I lived in VA I had to use bleach on those same 5 gallon RO bottles every month or they would turn green and get moldy. But I know what it is now, its the low humidity here in AZ, mold and fungus have a hard time developing here if its exposed to the air. The humidity is so low here you can dry cloth inside the house in 30 minutes, outside in summer in 10.

I hook a small nut or bolt to a string tied to a thin cloth to dry mine out after cleaning with a bleach solution. Mine always get moldy/gross like this.

I am on a kick with answering old threads today, LOL
