I GOT BABIES

I am so glad my female dalmation molie had babies today. I got nine in my little 1 gallon tank for now. I am just wondering about water temp and it my food ground into powder ok for them and amount of feeding. I have heard that after they double in lenth it is ok for me to move them back with the adults. I also am wondering why my adults (one male and three females) are attacking eachother more than I have seen. It is pretty equal on all of them attacking each other. Any suggestions on the babies or adults?

Well first, Congrats :)
Keep a consistent temperature, the same temp for the mother, and other fish.
For the first couple days I use liquifry for my guppy fry, then I switch to daphnia and ground up flakes.
Feed 2 times daily, making sure to clean out excess food.
It's okay to move them back when they are larger than the mouth on your biggest fish.
Sometimes fish will "attack" eachother, it might just be part of the mating process. Keep an eye on them and make sure no one gets beat up too bad.

Congrats on the fry. You can use the powdered food or get the Liquid fry food. The liuid stuff can pollute your tank, or so I hear (but what can't pollute your tank?). Baby Brine Shrimp (BBS) are supposedly very healthy for them and again, I have "heard" that they grow faster on them. Personally, I am a powdered flake fellow myself. Also, I'll second Ems point to keep them at the same temp as the tank they'll be moving into eventually.

Now, for the other problem. It's not unusual for a female to be very worn out/stressed/flat out fatigued after giving birth to fry. If the male is making advances at her, she may just be a little too tired to be patient with him. Also, if any of your other females are pregnant, they can be a little nippy and territorial and also chase the male off. If the male seems to be the agressor, he's just trying to make unwated advances. Give them some tmie to settle down. If you have a quarantine tank it's not at all uncommonc to give the birthing mother some time alone to relax and recover. Still, keep an eye out, you know your fish best and if something gets out of hand, be prepared to separate the offenders.

Thanks you guys I am feeding and my tanks are both the same temp. I think the ground up flake food is pine for them they seem to be eating it fine. The fry are active and the adults are calming down. Thanks for the comments. :dance

Its winter.. so u couldn't do it outside, but if u put some stones or anything aquarium safe in front of a window, u can grow algae for the babies... and the adults will like it too. I always fed my molly babies finely ground flakes and algae like i described. Molly babies tend to be larger and they are able to eat flake food if it is small enough. I always kept my babies in with the adults. If well fed, my mollies showed little interest in hunting them down and they grew quickly in the big tank. My biggest problem was them getting sucked into the filter. A sponge filter or a piece of sponge in the filter intake prevents this.
