Mollie Confusion

That fish is a male and looks like a platy to me. The mouth is the wrong shape for a molly.

I agree. This example pic is def. a male, which would be why the OPs is much rounder in the body if it's a girl. But this fish looks more like a platy to me than a molly. I'm no expert on platies, and I could be totally wrong, but my mollies have a much flatter top-line leading to an upward scooped mouth. I'm not sure if these are differences the OP would have noticed when picking this random pic of the web. If you were simply noticing the coloration, this is a color pattern that could go either way. I think we need a pic of the actual fish in question.

That fish is a male but it is definitely NOT a platy. I raised platy for a long time and I can assure you that pic is not of a platy. I believe that is one the poster found on the internet anyway.

So it cant be a ballon molly? she has the same head/body struture of the other mollies in my tank and they are twice the leanght of her so dont tell me their platys too. Oh and she is not pregnat as she is see through in person not really in the pic I would know if she was pregnant. And if she really is a platy I paid 4 dollars more for a fish because it had spots. Please please tell me its a mut or something! Platys at the place I got her from were $1.50 and I paid $6 for her.
