Over the past couple of days my favorite molly has developed a crooked spine. :( I've had her since May, and the only puzzling thing about her until now is that she has never given into the livebearer reproductive theme and has never had any babies (despite my best efforts!). So far searches have only given me TB and old age as answers.

I'm planning on setting up the quarantine tank, although I probably should have done so when I first noticed it...I took these questions from the other molly thread:

What size tank? 20L
What was the full stock? 1 female sailfin molly, 2 regular mollies (including the one in question), 5 sailfin fry, and 6 regular molly fry
Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels? 0, 0, and 5 (somewhat heavily planted)
How did you cycle? The tank has been up since the end of August, but when I first put it up I used filter media from my 28gal.
How much and how often are you changing water? 50% once per week
Any new additions? Not since the male molly was added at the beginning of October..he was quarantined for a month before and treated with Paraguard.

What should I treat her with? I know if it is TB there is no hope for her, but I would like to try (and hope that it isn't, for the sake of my other mollies!)

It could be genetic, or maybe she's showing the curved spine because she's just skinny. I've had corys live for a couple years, always showing the curved spine and people told me they could just be underfed. I don't know if that was the exact cause but unless your other fish are showing signs of TB I wouldn't worry.

Genetic defect, TB, or neon tetra disease. If she starts showing ANY signs of the other two diseases, isolate immediately. TB and neon tetra can wipe a stock and there aren't really any effective cures for them out there.

I think its more a case of her becoming skinny from the curved spine...she can't swim as fast and the other mollies beat her to the food. A week ago she was fat and happy.

I've never heard of neon tetra disease! She has remained dark, but I will keep an eye out for coloration loss/development of lumps. I plan on isolating anyway so best case scenerio, she has some alone time to pig out and fatten up.

Thanks for the help!

QT her now, no point in waiting, the longer she is exposed to your other stock the greater the chance for spread is if it is contagious

I have had a few fish like this, I have one curved up! its genetic. I have one guppy that is very curved in a V shape, he does well and there for I believe its genitic also.
