More fungus.

About a month ago one of my Lemon Tetras died from a fungus infection. It looked like he was severely injured and that became infected. Disappointing but not surprising as it was quite bad. (origional post http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165591)

Today i noticed that two of my Lemon Tetras are starting to develop similar conditions. The both look like they started from injuries as the areas are rather large to appear in a day. My concern is why is every injury becoming infected and what can i do about it?

i would personally be thinking your wc is to much

i think pulling 60% is messing up the balance of the tank i would drop to 25% one per week an maybe 50% every fourth week

perhaps adding 60% every six days is messin up the immune system of the fish by destroying the cycle
 
large water changes are fine a 60% water change is not uncommon and usually will help situations where water quality are at issue.
this size as well as any large water change has little to NO impact on the biological filter as long as you are using a safe conditioner that deals with chlorine and chloramines.


sounds like you may have bacterial infections from the other post.

can you get a picture of the damage/injury/infection?

OK. Could someone explain to me how a water change is meant to "mess up the cycle". Water changes are your friend here, the water quality needs to be as good as possible.

water changes will not mess up the cycle. the only times that large water changes can be a problem are when the temperature is very different, the tank has OTS, or the pH difference is wide. other than that, feel free to change more than 90% of the water if you really want.
 
which area on teh fish? Is it flat or "cottony"? What is the exact stocking on the tank and when was the most recent new addition?
 
stocking is in sig, no additions for over 3 months.

They tend to get growths that fall off or shrink over night. So I would call it cottony. Its not on the skin of the fish but tends do look like its eating away at it.

looking at the pictures it does not look like Columnaris.

Most of the time it really just looks like a bad injury.
