I have a large amount of moss that I am not using at the moment. It is a mix of Java, flame, Christmas tree moss. Can I keep it in one of those betta jars where it will get sun until I want to use it? I don't want it to die (took forever to get this much) but I don't want/have time to use it right now. Or is there another solution that doesn't involve a large mass of floating moss in one of my tanks? Thanks!

Oh, in case anyone was worried about the betta jar it is currently empty and my betta lives in a 10 gallon with filter and heater. I just didn't really know how to describe it.

I have done that before and it works well. When I did water changes on my tanks I emptied out the water from the moss holding container and refilled with the tank water. just make sure you move it around every so often so it doesn't get light on just one part of it.

Yeah, it should all be fine. I keep my excess moss in those $1 plastic shoe boxes on an indirectly lighted middle shelf of my plant stand, and it simply grows and grows and grows. Might want to turn it and swirl it around periodically to ensure that all of the moss gets good light from time to time. Otherwise, you may end up with parts of it turning brown and dying, simply from a lack of light.

To grow java moss is very easy by making sure it's in water & with not too bright light. They do well with cold temperature environment.
