Oops yeah i meant to say over 75 gallons not less. And when I say any tank volume (ex. 55 gallons) I usually mean the standard size... and I think that goes for most people. Your right it totally depends on the footprint of the tank, especially with mbuna, since the territory is established on the ground... not even to mention stocking levels and gas exchange (which can be rendered an inappropriate method if there is high filtration and lots of surface agitation). 
sassybandit, I think since there are so many mouthbrooding species out there we could make reccommendations till the cows come home but the best thing to do is to research a few species that interest you and find ones that would be most suitable to the space you can provide for them, instead of having us throw suggestions and fish of personal preference.
