Moving my tank

But she's only got 3 cories in there, so she's going to take most of the water out for a water change, move the tank to the new stand in the same room, with only a minimum amount of water to keep the cories covered, then fill it back up right away. I do not see even the slightest problem with this. I did this with my 29 and my 72 both with 3" gravel, took two people though with the 29 and took 3 with the 72. There's no risk of cracking with that little water in it IMO.

sorry dont agree, but just my opinion
 
Fair enough Nick, I know opinions and preferences differ on most everything. And although my 72 move went fine with three fireman all over 6', it made me extremely nervous when the move actually took place. I'm not sure if the possibility of twisting was there or not since we kept it in the cabinet and moved it that way. Thankfully it only had to go about 10 feet. Hope to never have to move it again. 20G and under i've moved with gravel and small amount of water my whole life without a second thought.

Fire fighters would have been good but I moved my 36 bow by myself. I drained 30% of the water out. I removed some more water and placed it in 2 clean (can't stress that enough) rubbermaid tubs. That left only enough water to cover the fish left in the tank. It was light enough for me to move it. I quickly and carefully moved the tank. Replaced the water back into the tank and topped the last 30% off with fresh water. It was very fast and the fish were fine. This is less stressful than netting the fish. There is so little weight from the small amount of water that I did not worry about twisting or cracking the tank.
 
Well I just went ahead and emptied out a little more than half of the water, left the fish in, and moved it. Someone else was helping me and it was a pretty minimal move. I set up the new stand right next to the old one and basically lifted it a couple of inches and slid it over. The fish didn't care even though sometimes they'll spaz out over the slightest thing. Anyway, I'm hoping since it was such a small move that the tank, etc will be fine. Thanks for the input though.. every other time I come on here I read something that had never even occurred to me before.

yeah i have had to move my 20g. to a different spot (in the same room i might add) once to make room for a different tank and i actually only emptied about half the water out and i didn't have a problem
