What will happen if I put malyasian trumpet snails with Corys? I know corys like to eat snails (they wiped out my pest snail population in no time) but will the MTS be able to breed fast enough to keep ahead of the corys or will the corys take them down too?

Wow, those Trumpet snails must be huge eh? Is it really possible for a snail to eat a live, healthy fish? I'm not being facetious, I've just never heard of such a thing. Sorry, I'm not much help...answering a question with a question. :(

I think he means will the corys eat snails, not will the snails eat corys...lol.

Trumpet snails are pretty unpalatable. I imagine some loaches will eat them, but they're nothing like the juicy brown ramshorns. Ever tried to crush an MTS with your fingers? Not really possible, is it? However the ramshorns can be splatted against the glass with no effort at all. Even assassin snails would much rather eat ramshorns...so I think your MTS will be just fine!

They may keep the population under control simply by eating the excess food, which is what the MTS would otherwise eat. Although we should never use cory cats for the purposes of scavenging (it's important for them to have their own nutritious food) they ARE scavengers, basically.

My cories dont really bother my mts. As long as you start with enough mts they should be able to keep up without a problem.

I've raised baby brigs with Cory's and never had a noticeable decline in population with the batch. I also have MTS with Cory's and no issues that I've noticed. Perhaps it's because they have their little trap doors They can close up if any Cory's start to get overly curious??

Okay thanks, I just needed to know, as I have several (no idea how many at this point) large cories (like, 1.5 in) in my 75gal, and I also want MTS, and wanted to be safe. Thanks for the help :D

 bahahahaha. My corys eat the smallest of them sometimes, but very rarely.

i've kept multiple cories with baby and adult apple snails, and ramshorn snails as well. never saw the cories paying any attention to any snail in the same tank at all.

you sure it wasn't something else that took out all the pest snails in your tank?

LOL platy dare I ask where you got all these "snail splatter results" from? LOL that was a good laugh reading that thank you...... Back to the OP, I currently have cories with MTS with no problems, I've never seen them even give them a second notice.
