how will i know if my mushrooms are dead. They've been sucked up pretty small for a bout a week and my tank conditions are good.

I think they're dead when they've completely melted or disintegrated away. Until that happens, a come back is possible (as long as tank conditions permit); and they're known to have remarkable regenerative abilities.

What type of lighting do you have, and what are your specific tank conditions?

i think theyll melt.

try to give them light, or take them out of the direct light

Shrooms seem to love carbon being run in their tanks. If a water change and some quality carbon doesn't bring them back, chances are slim. Any other inverts in there? Typically coralimorphs are the last to show signs of stress.

mushrooms don't die that easy. they don't like too much flow right on them and they need light. mine love helides, but you have to adjust them slowly to it. they don't do well in shaded areas at all. once they adjust, they can learn to accept high flow too.

Mine move out of high flow areas and don't like bright lights like halides etc."they do like it but, they turn poo-poo brown and who wants that." Have you introduced anything new or have you had any sudden shifts in your params etc.?
