My son picked up a guitar when he was 15 yrs old and has not put it down since. He is 18yrs now but he recorded these songs in his bedroom by himself after 2 years of playing. He borrowed my cousins electronic drums and a bass and layed down these songs on his computer. Please give me your input as to how you think they sound. Dial-up users beware. They have been reduced in size for faster downloads and do sound much better in the original size.

considering this was setup in a bedroom studio, it's awesome.

My thoughts:

the instruments do sound generic, from the drums, the the organ sound in the first song. (gotta replace that with the sound off a great hammond organ!! :) ) Guitar's lead solo part sounds awesome, but I don't really like the sound of the distortion on the other parts. Too crunchy for my taste.

It's so hard to come up with the basic layout of a song. Considering he's pulled that off, and made the instruments all work together, I think he's done a great job.

Keep it up!

I'm not a musician but I appreciate a wide range of good music. I think he obviously has a lot of raw talent. With some refinement, focusing on the vocals and the sound mixing to be more climactic and to more accurately portray the... emotions
It has a lot of potential. I love the guitar. He has some amazing ideas and ability to express them and carry them out and make them into music. Personally I think he could add some more dynamics, like variation in the style of the vocals.

It's exceptional though. I have heard a lot of "musicians" of similar age locally... people with a lot less talent than he has have made it to shows in the bigger cities in the area. (http://myspace.com/ninthdying) could be my subjective preferences... but I dont think it takes much talent to make that ^ music. It doesn't have a "big picture".... very disorganized.

Thank God my boy doesn't really care for that music. I can appreciate most music but that stuff is too noisy for my old ears now..lol.
I thought it was pretty good since he never recorded before, did it in his bedroom and was only playing for 2 years when it was recorded. I know he has a lot to learn, but I am one proud PaPa just hearing what he can do.

If this is what he has done in just 2 years just wait an see how good he is in another couple 3 years. I think he has done a VERY decent job .
