my tangs came down with ick what to do

hello i just added a 6 line wrasse to my tank 2 days ago and know my blue tang and purple tank have ick what should i do to get rid of this i do not want to lose them or anything else in the tank please help asap david

how big is the tank and if it a reef? The best thing to do is just keep on feeding the fish a varied diet including ALOT of nori, dried seaweed. the ich will dropp off when it is time for them to reproduce and the fish will build up their immune system then. you can also get a quarantine tank but this means you have to remove the fish. why did you get a blue tang?? they get white spot like a magnet!
 
Actually when the ich drop off thats a BAD sign as it means the same fish will get infected worse then before, especially tangs. The best thing to do is put the fish into a temporary aquarium and treat it with copper, then let the aquarium they came out out of run fishless for 3-4 weeks as this makes sure any of the parasites that are left die off.
 
ditto gealcath: always quarantine BEFORE adding fish to display tank, decreases chance of infecting.
meanwhile, speaking of ick, and Ick Magnets, I know that this may be :OT:
but I've been planning on adding a Kole tang to my tank: are ALL tangs magnets for ick, or some moreso? :huh:
 
(And yes, you're more likely to be struck by lighting than to get a Hippo Tang from a LFS without any ich)

More likely to win the power ball than get a powder blue tang without...
