Yesterday they were fine swimming, eating, and beautifuly colored today there floating dead with there stomachs buldged out and a little of there insides poking threw no fish were bothering them, all the other fish seem to be fine and the water seems to be fine has anyone ever heard of something like this happening before plz help.........

OK Hanz, we discussed this in the chat, THAT HAPPEND AFTER THEY WERE DEAD. Is that clear enough? The fish died and the other fish in the tank went and had a snack, period. They did not explode, jeesh. Don't keep asking the same question just to get a different anwser.

Thats not true now I can't be 100% sure but iam almost positve none of the other fish messed with them and even so why did they die in the first place all 4 of them?????

Also I don't REALLY think they exploded but something ruptured or something because it was nothing ive ever seen before and iam no amature...

Alright, you have angels and neons in that tank, they will mess with them after they are dead, especially the Angels, since they are carnivores and would eventually try to make snacks out of the cardinals and angels anyway. Cardinals are mainly wild caught and can be touchy to captive tanks, they do better in high heat tanks, thus that is one of the reasons why they make great discus tank mates.

They died for some reason, disease, water, whatever, but they "exploded" because once they die you get a build up of gases in the body, which stretches tissue, then other fish start tryin to eat them, and rip the body cavity open to eat them. And there ya go and exploded lookin fish.

yuckies :(

It sounds like your cardinals are doing an imitation of the "Alien" movie where the critter jumped out of the crew members belly. :joe:

how old are the cardinals......if you just got them recently it is fairly common for these guys to bite the dust. They are not the hardiest fish to survive the acclimation process.

I had them for almost a month so the acclimation process was well over.....

Almost a month isn't really that long in terms of not-too-hardy fish ;) !! Also, just about any fish will snack on another once its dead. I had a guppy fall ill and he was just body (no fins nothing) in a matter of hours and he was still alive  , the other fish really went after apparently, but I saw none of it...
