OK, this is the second copper banded butterfly fish that I bought for my reef because i need some help controlling the aptasias in the aquarium... (I also like the look of them anyway :)

The first one died a strange way, Its top back fins looked like they rotted off him after about a week of me getting him... He did eat some of the mysis shrimp that I feed the fish and still died....

I decided to try again because the aptasias are out of control... This little guy is about the size of a silver dollar and I see him picking at the rocks all the time but I have yet to see him eat some of the mysis shrimp. I have tangs also so I put the dried sea weed in there also 2 times a week and have not seen him eat that either.... I am starting to notice his top back fins are not looking to hot but it might just be me seeing things lol.. however he does look thin and I am not sure if he is eating...

Any ideas how to get him to eat?

Maybe should I get some live brine shrimp from the store on my way home? would he eat that? Not sure what to do...

Personaly, i think what would be your best way to get it to feed is to try a range of meaty foods and keep trying to temp the fish to eat..They are very picky eaters in my opinion, but, i have also seen that percerverance does pay off with trying lots of foods to find one he does take too.

Any chance of you posting some pictues of the new guy?

Hope that helps...

Niko

I'd try live food with it and do it rather soon. Copperbands seem to either adjust quickly to the tank or be fragile new additions and live food is often needed to get the later to eat. Sounds like you have a really small little guy too. Hope he eats for you soon.

Stupid question about the live brin shrimp...

You have the option of getting 2, 6, 12 cups of it at my LFS and really 6 is to much and 2 is a good amount really maby need a little more for a feeding so i was wondering if i get the 6 cups and use it for the next day or 2 how could i keep the brine shrimp alive...

The LFS said keep it in the refridge but that makes no sense to me wont the temp change kill them???

any suggestion would help... thanks

also ill get a pic of the little butterfly fish and post him tomorrow...

an update on the little guy...

I got the live brine shrimp yesterday and did 2 different feedings and he did not eat from what I saw. Today ill do another feeding of Live Brine Shrimp an then ill do a Feeding of bloodworms to see if that might intrest him...

No pic today i had forgot to get one... He does not look bad yet just a little thin i think...
