I have 3 discuses in QT now and they've been there for 2 weeks. One of them had a white spot on his fin and I thought it was ich so I treated for that. It's still there so I'm guessing it's not ich. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it. He still eats and swims around like the others. I'm thinking that I'll just leave it alone and hopefully it'll resolve. My temp. is 87 and I do 50% water changes every 2-3 days. Any ideas on what it is?

One of my discus has had a white spot in the center of his tail fin for about a year..
Its not ick, there would be several spots, not just the one, nad they would be raised.. Fre swiiming Ich can not survive in 87F water, which is a little warm even for discus, (Ikeep mine around 84-86, a little higher for juvies)

Was the spot there when you first got the fish?
When did you notice that spot?
have any more spots appeared?

I don't remember seeing it when I first got him. There's no light on the tank, but it's sitting on my desk and there's a light above the desk, so maybe it was there and I didn't notice it. You're thinking it might be nothing? I want to make sure before I introduce them into the main tank.

One of my discus, my adult LSS, also has a white spot that comes and goes, always on her tail. I don't believe any one has ever figured out what really causes it, including over on simply. it's more like a blemish that comes and goes. Yours sounds like the same thing, and it is not contagious or harmful to the fish or other fish in the tank. Sometimes it looks like you could rub it off.....and i've tried, but there's nothing to rub off either. Doesn't affect her appetite either!

Yeah my discus get the same thing. I dont worry till I see sure signs of illness like not eating or floating upsidedown
