I agree, get nagging the parents!:grinyes: You are very fortunate to have first time spawners who haven't spent months just eating the eggs or eating the fry till they get it right what to do!! Also, by getting their own tank, when it comes time that the fry need to attach to the parents, you may have to lower the water level in order to get that accomplished. Seems that is a big hurdle to overcome. And if you do get a tank, don't get anything dark to put in the tank. BB is best and you'll need something light colored to cover your dark tank accessories. The babies look for something dark to attach to and the discus need to be the only dark thing in the tank or the babies will go towards something else. Hope this helps for the next brood!
Do you think a 29g tank would be sufficient for a breeder/growout tank? I HIGHLY doubt I'll even be able to convince them to let me go with a 29, let alone something larger, so if its not suitable, I'll just have to wait until my living situations will permit me to set up another large tank. (probably set up a 55 just for those 2 to raise their young in) I've considered the potentiality of removing some of the tank mates to increase their chances of survival, but I'm not sure I want to go down that road yet either. I'll just have to be patient, and be thankful I was able to witness such a miracle right in my own tank.
Oh, a couple questions I did think of; if I did set up a 55g breeder tank, do you think the male and female would display any aggression towards each other being the only 2 fish in the tank? The male seems very protective of and gentle towards the female, but I wonder if that would change when they became the only inhabitants. So, completely bare-bottom, no decorations, just the fish, the filter, and a breeding cone, eh? Seems like that would be a heck of a lot easier to keep clean.

Depending on how living conditions change, perhaps some day I'll set up a large (500+ gallon) discus tank, and have my own little breeding operation running in a fish room to produce the desired color patterns for the display, or something like that. Hahaha... maybe if I win the lottery..... :grinyes:
