Also any help you could give me on care would be wonderful. I did research b4 buying them but im finding that they dont seem to like the water they swam out of it right away and have not returned. its been about 3 weeks. as for food i was going to feed them earth worms but the Newts are to young/small for that i think so i am feeding them blood worms hope this is ok.

awww, it looks so cute.

Dont like water! My newts are CONSTANTLY in it. Maybe there are some issues with yours? Post the temperature, pH, and do your ammonia tests and whatnot. You do have a filter, right?

I used to keep newts and mine did not like the water either. I had a rock cave that they preferred to stay in. Of course, there was 100% humidity in there, so they did not have to worry about drying out.

yea sometimes newts (mainly firebellys) decide to become terrestrial and when you put them in the water it seems they panick and try to get out asap. the best way to avoid that is to only buy newts who are comfortably resting on the bottom of an "aquarium"

but the terrestrial ones are great for terrariums just provide a decent amount of water in a bowl.

We had a newt that seemed to live a million years.

He used to like to be in the water all of the time too. He ate freeze dried worms of some sort out of my hand (I was very young ate the time so don't remember much) Then he ate some feeder fish we had in there (not for him to eat, just to have in there but he liked them) Then we forgot about him for a long time but some how he still survived.

One day our dogs were barking at something on the floor, what appeared to be a walking dustball. Ended up being the newt, he got out of the cage, went through the living room, down the hallway and ended up getting to the dinning room.

We picked him up, washed him off and he was fine!

I think he lived for probably around 16-20 years. My cousin had him first but she lost interest.

Okay, thats my newt story.

awesome newts
