Hello everyone, I just thought I would show everyone my first attempt at tropical fish keeping. I have cycled the tank using a filter pad from my friends tank and some fish food (didn't know about using ammonia to cycle then) and just added my first fish at the weekend. I now have 6 Cardinal Tetras and 3 Dalmation Mollies (my friend has now told me not the best fish to put in a new tank but they seem happy for now).

The tank is a Juwel Vision 260 (litres) and I am using arcadia lights and an Eheim canister filter which is nice and quiet. I have no hood on the tank, will I need to add one? Also I got a powerhead with venturi air feed, will I need this or will the filter give enough circulation and air exchange?

I have just noticed this evening that the fatter of the two female mollies is now thinner and we have a lot of little fry! :). Luckily they have the floating plant to hide in!

Anyway some pics of my setup so far (will be getting more plants once I know what works in my tank):

great job ! looks really well - sure you havn't done this before ?? :D

welcome to AC btw :)

What is that floating plant called? I have to have one of those.. it looks awesome!
I love your arrangement , Nice tetras :)

Thank you for the welcome. The floating 'plant' is plastic and I don't know what it is trying to copy. It is saving the little fries lives at the moment though as they are all hiding in it as it drifts round the tank :D

Very nice, Welcome to AC!

I'll put this in the photo gallery for you.

Very nice work on that tank!

And that's some great driftwood you have in there.
