We have goldfish, and after I cleaned the pump a few days, 3 fish have had their tails caught in the uptake! What can I do?

i had that problem once, i used to keep my fish in a 20 gallon tank until i upgraded to a 55, but anyways one of my albino gouramis would always get stuck in the filter in take, and i actually lost 2 fish that way, if you have an adjustable filter, put it on low or half. that should fix your problem.

There are a few things to try. Some people put a sponge in the intake of the filter. However, this stops all the large pecies from getting sucked in the filter. So you'd probably have to scoop them out.

If you have a penguin filter, raise the intake tube just a hiar. Stop when the suction is at your liking. The other name brand filter (aqua clear or something like that) allows you to move the filter intake left and right to adjust the suction.

We really need to know what kind of filter you have.

goldfish are like a big fatman swimming, well some of them. Some shake there whole body only to basically drift, some goldfish arent strong swimmers at all. It could be that something is wrong with them or the intake is a tad to powerful and needs to be adjusted.

that happened to one of my kissing gouramis, and he is perfectly fine, i was watching him and see swam right past the filter intake and got stuck to the side, then i turned the filter down (aqua clear 500 & topfin 6) and now hes perfectly fine. but everyone is right, what kind of filtaers do you have and how big is your tank? details, details..... ;)
