The hyatt hotel here in Vancouver does a gingerbread contest every year and I am entering it.

My work is not done yet this is a progression pic. I didn't get the dimentions exactly right but i think I'm close i hope you can tell what it will be. so I wont say.

Here it is. Like I said It's not finished yet I have a few more parts to bake, clean up the icing and decorate.

Thoughts ideas?

Nice work Tbone. I never had the patience for those miserable structures myself, though my area hosts a massive gingerbread contest at Biltmore House, Asheville NC.

They get some mileage out of tiny little aspic cutters for detail work.. just an idea.

It will be done by Christmas. I have progressed further from that pic. I used templates from a model i built out of cardboard. The small details will come soon. I just have to complete the main structure. It does take alot of patience, and alot of hours. But it's been fun and will be worth it once it's finished.

I remember that contest from when I lived in Vancouver. My Brother in Law's architechture firm entered the contest one year...though I can't remember which house was theirs (might have been a treehouse, or birdhouse design?) All the entries were amazing. I would love to see your entry when you're finished!

Can you still eat it or would it be stale :D ? After my dogs ate half the building I would probably give up :soda:

It is a hard gingerbread like a ginger snap. It is better for detailing and it can be thinner. As fo dogs I don't have one...I do have a cat but he smelled the ginger and ran away. Hes very wierd that one.
