Well i've got 1 oranda and 2 fantails in my 35 gallon, they are still small my oranda and one of the fantails are almost 2 inches and my other fantail is about 1 and a 1/4 inch.

They have been in the tank for about 3-4 months and when I first got them they were really active and always swimming around but in the last 2 months or so they just sit around behind some of the decorations and stuff most of the time but they have bursts of energy where they swim around all active scavanging for food.

They don't look sick or anything just lazy when its feeding time they swim around the tank crazy and act all normal.

So is this normal behaviour for golfish?

whats your nitrAte, nitrIte, ammonia and PH??
also, how often do you do water changes and how much?

Pardon, I may be wrong, but isn't it winter in australia right now? If your home's temperature is lowered, than your goldfish's metabolism goes along with it. That means all of their body processes are going in a slower rate, thus making them appear sluggish.

Although before i can point to temperature as your goldies issue, we'd need to see your tank's nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia levels.

Yeah... give us your water parameters, including water temperatures (high and low). Where did you get the fish? Ask them if they treat the fish for gill flukes prior to selling them. Gill flukes are a very common ailment with goldfish and cause the fish to not get as much O2 so they appear sluggish and lazy. Praziquantel is the best thing out there for gill flukes and it's very easy on the ecology of the tank and on the fish. Many goldfish keepers are doing preventative treatments with Prazi when they first get fish.
