ff--I am so sorry to hear this. I was robbed 2 years ago, and it is awful. And you'll keep finding things that are missing--we did for 3-4 months. It sucks. I didn't get back any of the sentimental things that were stolen, either.
Adding security locks to the windows helps. We also replaced all the door locks, since we couldn't verify that no keys were stolen. You will feel better about it, but it will take time. On a happy note--there weren't any fingerprints found at my house either, but the culprits were eventually caught--lived 3-4 houses down the road and they were unloading stuff they'd stolen from our house, with my husband standing in front of our house watching. So keep an eye out for that as well, especially if there's anything big enough to be easily noticable.
And, I hate to say it, but for the jewelry, check out the young girls in your area--I can't prove it's mine, but I've spotted a large white sapphire ring that was taken on a girl from down the street. And, get a lock box. A decent one, that can be bolted down from the inside, big enough to hold all your valuable jewelry and important papers. For ~$100, you can get one that can be bolted to the floor of your closet and is also fire proof. Worth every single penny.
