OK, this is really it …….(haven’t I said that before? But I’m not a quitter). I need your advice…
I have posted several threads regarding my betta who has lost his scales due to some mystery bacteria/fungus.
He is not getting any better. This infection is stumping me. I have tried Maracyn/Maracyn 2. Jungle fungus eliminator, Maroxy. I have tried a sulfur product. I have also used Melafix. All the while, I have been maintaining diligent water changes. I have not used anything in two weeks other than the water changes. He has lost all of his scales and now I see white tufts of fungus on the tips of his fins, and I think at the base of them also. Not a good sign.
At this point, I don’t have any other ideas. I’m ready to just let the powers that be take him to his fishy resting place.
Does anyone have “ANY” clue as to what to do next? Can anyone recommend a medication that I haven’t tried yet? I’m ready to take him out of the aquarium and thoroughly clean the tank, substrate, etc. Should I change the filter medium and replace or sterilize the bio-wheel? Could the culprit be hiding in the biofilter (or gravel)? My thinking is that I have medicated and killed the beneficial bacteria right out of the tank anyway……
I realize that this would be cycling the tank again, but I would sterilize it anyway if this guy died, before I got another fish to put into it. I just don’t trust the tank.
Should I just do nothing and let him go?
