I set this up about a month ago with things I had on hand. I was originally keeping some RCS in a small breeder box that hung off the back of one of my other setups. One of those Marina breeder boxes that has an air bubbler siphon tube to circulate water through it.

Here's the new setup, a ~2.5gal bowl with a "75w equiv" daylight bulb over it, sponge bubbler filter, java moss and RCS.

It's an LED bulb. I forget it's actual wattage, but I think it's around 10w being comparable to a 75w incandecent per the packaging. It's a 5000K daylight color/temp. 8hrs/day produced a lot of algae, so I cut it back to 6. I may have to break up the lights on time into several cycles over the day at some point.

The aluminum reflector utility fixture just happened to work out nice as a cover for this bowl.

Cute! I have to wonder what is normal room temp? I feel like my house is naturally warmer than other peoples. My 2nd floor doesn't get below 70 unless I have the windows open on a cold night or something. Even in the winter and I have no heat going up there.

We keep the T-stat at 67F in the winter, which lasts about 7 months for us. LOL ughhh!

Our house can get into the low 80 range in the summer where all but one of my setups are. The exception is my 29g that's in the basement. It stays in 67-72 range there all year.
