The spraybar takes the flow way down, if you take it off, the jetstream should definitely be enough to keep the water moving along the top of your tank- this is how I have my rena xp2 set up in my 55.
I repositioned my spray bar more towards the surface and it seems to be helping. There's still algae floating on the surface but with a small powerhead and the tank still stabilizing hopefully that problem will take care of itself. As far as lighting I have decided to only run two of my six bulbs. One 10k and one actinic. Hopefully this won't be to much light. Just to keep everyone's interest let's start discussing stocking (I know this won't be happening any time soon, just planning). I was thinking a pair of rams, a pair of cockatoos and six corys (I like swartz's and sterba's). I also like inverts so how about a cherry shrimp, some snails, and a freshwater clam? Once again please feel free to suggest changes. This is just a preliminary list. I'm also posting some more pics. The tank is a lot clearer than the first pictures I took. On a side note, the flourescent green plant on the left side will be leaving the tank!
the way i cycle, is thow a piece of raw shrimp in there and don't worry about it for a while, no constant adding anything, keep check and you'll start seeing ammonia and nitrites rise and eventually nitrates, always worked well for me.
