as far as the surface, a small powerhead will be more than fine, why aren't you running the sump on the freshwater, if it was this same tank?
I think the Rena is more appropriate for the tank now.
I asked my LFS about plants and how to take care of them and it seems like if I don't run a CO2 system (which can be expensive) I would have to dose on a daily basis./QUOTE]
If you do a low light planted tank you would not have to dose anything.
The lights are staying off until I have some stuff to see in there. Bushwhacker, I thought about live plants (and I made sure to buy substrate that would be appropriate for plants if I want to add them later), but for now the idea of live plants seems a little daunting. When setting up the tank I asked my LFS about plants and how to take care of them and it seems like if I don't run a CO2 system (which can be expensive) I would have to dose on a daily basis. I think plants are definitely in my future though. Bigwave, I'm using the spray bar as well and it does keep the surface right around the bar pretty agitated, but maybe because the tank is so long it only stirs up half the surface. I was really expecting a lot more output flow from such a large filter. I'm wondering if I have it set up right?
