Here are 2 videos of my Alligator Gar I hope you enjoy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JsOACUQgvI
In that video he was in the tank for the winter. it was a small 40 gallon tank but i live in north carolina and i had just got him and i didnt know if he would survive outside in the pond for the winter. As of now this video only has about 500 views. i am hoping yall can get these fish more popular and more appreciated by sharing these videos to stop people from killing so many of them in the wild.

This video is of me putting him back into the pond so he could have more room to swim around. This was about two months ago and he was about 6 inches. Now after two months in the pond he has grown to 10 or 11 inches.

About the pond: The pond has 2 shallow ends on each side about 6 inches deep and gets about 4 and a half feet in the middle. The pond is from 800 to 100 gallons.

About the gar: The gar lives with a largemouth bass that is about 3 fourths the size of him. He attacks it every once in a while but it escapes because it is a little too big for the gar. I mainly geed the gar minnows creek chubs, shiners and sunfish. Occasionaly i find him some feeder goldfish. He has a good appetite and eats what he can fit in his mouth.

Maybe its just because hes small but it looks alot like a Florida gar, not an alligator gar. Baby pools are cheap but BTW if that is an alligator gar its going to get huge (much bigger than 3 ft as thought in a video). However if its a florida gar (more likely) 2-4ft is right

Trust me look at the comments on the youtube video of him and the replys from monster fish keepers. It is deffinately an alligator gar. If you look at my profile picture yuou can see that hishead is much too large to be a florida gar. Not trying to insult you because i understand the video does not show the best evidence

Even a 1000 gallon pond would be too small for these guys. On top of that the price of feeding would be crazy for an adult. Can you get a clear shot of his side? It's fine if you can't but it would help settle the alligator/spotted gar debate a lot faster.

Any update on that?

Btw, how the heck did you catch him out of a 1000gal pond to put him in an aquarium for the winter?
