My planted 90 gallon

I am switching this month from fake plants to live plants, starting next week I am picking up my new substrate and a couple of plants.

I have never heard of this method, can you explain briefly or give me a link to an article or website? It would be very much appreciated, I am rediculously envious of your planted tank!

Nice tank.

I was wondering what the grassy plant is in the 1st post 3rd pic down.

Also what is HC? I like the glosso carpet look, will the HC do the same?

I'm going to go with a planted tank in my new setup, and I'd also like to try to keep it low maintenance, for now.

Could you name all your old plants, which ones you pulled, and what you put in there place?

That grassy plant is Blyxa Japonica http://www.tropica.dk/productcard_1.asp?id=057A and one of my favorite plants.

HC will carpet like glosso in fact in my first 2 posts HC is the plant carpeting the ground in those pics. HC has much smaller leaves that glosso, but is a lot harder to find. In fact I think the only place to get it is from other hobbyists.

As far as the high maintenance plants, I can tell you that glosso is one becuase it will grow over itself and you eventually have to pull up the whole carpet and replant it or the bottom layers will rot. Planting glosso is not fun.
Also got rid of chinese ivy, grew too many water roots and I was constantly trimming them off. Most stem plants need trimming and will grow the water roots, so if you don't like the roots, or a jungle look they will be lots of work.
There are more I have been through, just can't think of there names, ill have to look em up.

Simply stunning planted tank, im sure the fish must absolutley love it.

Very nice beautiful rainbows aswell!

Thanks, but 2 of my boseman's have a with thing on their lip. It's been there since I got them about 3 months ago. I have not been able to find information on what this growth might be, but it hasn't grown any at all and their lips aren't rotting away. I do worry about it though.
