As some of you know I have a 135 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump.I have two PJ Cardinals.one Yellow tang,1 Sailfin tang.A chocolate chip sea star named Cookie, and emerald crab named George..and snails and hermit crabs.
What I wont to add to the tank
one Hippo Tang
two Clowns
A cleaner goby or wrasse
a sand sifting goby
How does that sound?Any other fish that might do good in the tank? or sand sifters that may do good? I wont to do low light corals later but I only if something happens to Cookie..

my thoughts

All of the following coulb be an addition to your tank: sea cucumber (tiger tail), Sand-sifting Sea Star, and Conches. As big as your tank is you could get two of of each of ther above and still be ok. It's recommended to only get 3 inches per 30 gallons if you get the tiger tails. I like the sand-sifting sea star...they just appear out of nowhere then dissappear for up to a few days in the sand but they help keep it very clean and move the substrate around for you. Of course this in just my opinion and others with more experiance could have other ideals. Good luck with everything.:dance2:

Thank you.I forgot to add that I am also thinking about a foxface..
I know the tangs get pretty big and the Sailfin is going to get very big so I wont to plan for that now so they stay happy for the long run.
I like the sand sifting stars but I have heard that they will eat everything out of your live sand and then die because there is no more food.I don't have the experience to say if this is true but would love to know..

Yes, that is a very true statement to say..Personally, i am against having them in a tank and i never suggest people have one...Agan, this is down to personal prference and is just my own opinion...

Thanks Niko..I knew I could count on you.I have heard thats o many times and I don't wont to add anything that has a time limit on it's life. The sea cucumber scares me because they are toxic and can kill everything in the tank if they get stressed or die and things just die sometimes.I am not brave enough to risk that.I like the goby and that is what I will do to keep the sand clean..

from my own personal experience, a nice sand sifting goby and low flow over the substrate is all that is needed to keep it clean and the normal cleanup crew like hermits and snails do a good enough job of cleaning any detrius left behind and release the nitrogen gas ( bubbles in the sand )...

Thanks. Can I get your opinion on one other thing,I have two max jet 1200's on the tank, not sure what the pump size in the sump is so can't say the flow on that.I was thinking about getting at least one more power head,,maybe two.But I am not sure if I even need it or if I need more. What do you think?

well, not thinking about the return in this matter...two maxijet 1200's will give you 590 gph water turn over....With a fish only tank, you want minimum of 10 x water turn over per hour...so, for your system, you would be needing 1350 gph...so, as you can see from the figure stated above for the two maxijets, you do really need to up the flow in the tank...If this a reef, then the flow jumps up quite a large ammount and you would be looking more in the regieon of 2700 gph...

Great..I wonted to add 2 more pumps but hubby thought it was over kill now I can show him it is not.By adding two more that only leaves me 170 shy of 1350 and I am sure the pump in the sump puts out way more than 170 so I will be over the 1350 mark..I will add two more this weekend. Thanks so much Niko
