I recently bought a Whisper 10i internal filter and when I plugged it in, it was as loud as you normally talk. I have a Whisper HOB 20 in my goldfish tank thats dead silent and I was wondering if the 10i is usually very loud or if something is wrong with the filter. Please help me! :help:

Can somebody please help me? Any response would be good. The noise is like a rattly sound and I've already checked for bubbles and I looked at the motor. If I can't fix it, Ill return it tomorrow.

Well when I open the bottom, the motor will not come out. I also tried to take off the bottom third part of it, but I couldn't. Am I being a wimp or is the motor supposed to be hard to take off?

I have it in a Fire bellied toad tank with 3 inches of water and the slots of the filter intake are totally submerged.

EDIT: I have read on the net that if you leave the filter running for a couple of hours it should become quiet. So I will let it run in my goldfish tank, empty, until tomorrow morning and if it still is loud, I will return it.

Here's a little update: I went back and returned it this morning and got a new one, but when I first plugged it in, It was the same loudness as the old one but this time I was able to take off the motor and so I fiddled around with it andd put it back in the water. When I plugged it in, It was still loud so I got angry and left it alone but when I came back about 3 hours later I checked to see if it was on, and it was. So now I have a deathly quiet Whisper 10i filter that doubles as a waterfall for my firebellies.
