My water perimeters are all normal and to my knowledge have not flucated over the past few days. I came home from school to find one of my very pregnant female guppies who was bright orange, on the ground dead pure white. I'm not sure as this is my first fish that has died, but do they turn white when they die? All my other fish are looking good and have no signs of disease.

PS i know about cycling, etc.

Now that i think of it, she was staying low to the ground and straying away from the other fish. But thats all that I can recall.

I'll do another water test and take some water to my LFS just to make sure my test kits arent bad.

she could have been avoiding all the others because she was pregnant, or because she was dying.
testing the water is probably the best option.
keep an eye on all the others, making sure theres no disease or anything.
good luck :)

Yes I sure will, is it possible that it was because of a birth...problem or something. I know humans have complications sometimes with birthing, but can guppies?

I'd say so. Also check for raised scales (just to make sure it's not dropsy). It's possible she may have been bloated too.

I had a guppy before that died while giving birth. Everything was going fine, then out of nowhere, she started darting around, turned yellow, and died all within about 45 seconds.

Ah I wish I was home so I could have known for sure, but at this point i'll assume she died with birth complications, until i test my water again that is.
