i Just bought today a pair of yellow/albino mystery snails for my 55 gallon. I have different types of loaches in my tank (yoyo, striated, small clowns) which i know love snails. I figured i could get the biggest mystery snails to add to my tank and the loaches would only eat their offspring and leave them alone due to their size. It has been about three hours since i have added them in and i notice that every time i check on them they r upside down and tucked away. I am not sure:huh: if it is the natural curiosity that comes with owning loaches flipping them or what it is. I am wondering if anyone has mysteries in their tank with loaches. Is this curiosity that will probably end or is their a chance that they will stress the snails to death. Maybe i should have done more research on the snails but i was at the store and i liked them so i figured i would try. I can move them to one of my other tanks. Plus i have not seen the loaches even touch them so this is just my guess as to why they keep being upside down.

Hi,

I am very sorry about this but your snails will never be compatible with all those loaches you have. It does not matter which snails you have, how big they are and how much protection their shell and operculums (trapdoors) can provide them. A lot of loaches especially the botiine genus are rather cunning fish and will in time devour all your snails. The only loaches I have ever successfully keep my snails with are dojo loaches, hillstream loaches and kuhli loaches, nothing else.

I moved your thread here so any other researchers can generate searches on this forum in particular for compatibility questions.
