Anyone have experience with these?

Here's the story. There is a petstore that has horrible fish. Ich is rampant, and they have a Black tipped reef shark on display in what must be a 120 gal :( My brother and I went in just for a look, and saw a tank with knight gobies and a few lables for fish not in the tank(other gobies). 3 mystery fish were obviously not gobies. One was dead, one died as we watched, and the other was on his way out. My brother asked to see if it would eat. The girl got some flakes. My brother told her it would prefer something else, like brine shrimp. She didn't have any. My bro and I discussed getting it just to save it, asked her for a hydrometer. It read 0 salinity. That was a start. the girl told us since it was dying we could have it free. I have found it is a nandus nandus, and am slowly raising salinity over the course of this week, am currently only at 1.001. will be at 1.005 by weeks end. He is very emaciated, but has taken live brine shrimp. Already he is doing better and I think he will pull through. As this fish is rare, I would appreciate any advice from people who know about them. TIA and wish me luck :)
