nano cube

Hey bmiller - all,
I just bought the 12 gl JBJ DX tank as well and starting off with my nano.

For the cycle you need to have the lights on for about 10 hours a day and off at night. The cycle will take a couple of weeks

Just curious about this post from ganjero because i read somewher to cycle the tank you should cover it with a blank for a week and that would speed up the process of cycling the tank the first time. So, i am just curious which way is best for a 12 gl tank.

Let us know - Thanks and great forums. Love reading them and seeing all the pictures of other peeps tanks!

If you do that you kill everything in the live rock (all the good bacteria, coralline algae, hithickers, etc), so there is not point buying live rock. In fact, this will make your cycle longer, there will be more death, more death=more ammonia= longer cycle. There is only a lil bit of death when you buy live rock and leave the lights on, so your cycle is shorter (but still a few weeks), there is nothing that can really spped up cycles. Just have patience.
