My 3 year old nano is ready to give up. The lights have burned out, the fans shorted, pump shaft broken. So I have decided that it's time for a new tank. Not that this was a bad tank, in fact, it was a GREAT beginner tank and showed me alot of stuff. SO, aquariacentral, help me decide which nano to buy(yes I want another nano). I have been looking closely at the Nanocube 24gallon with the viper light. I believe That it's going to give me a wider selection of corals to have. Will having no hood reduce humidity? and less shortage? Tell me what you think about this tank.

Thanks, Jake

I have no nano experience but that is the one I would go with. I like the light and the fact that it has a skimmer. Seems to have everything you need. The one on the DRs site seems to have a hood with 4 cooling fans in it.

I've heard cool things about the nanowave 9 too if you wanted to go even nano-er.

I like the looks of the Solana? I think that's what it's called. Seems like it has basically everything you would need.

Just a heads up those viper lights can be terrible. Ive seen them in a row with other hang on tank lights at my lfs and the viper looks like a miserable night light.. However I do own a 24 dx cube and just bought a 28 gallon hqi canopy upgraded with 32 watts of power compacts. So 182 watts total for my 24 off nanotuners. If your gonna wait a bit I can let you know how that goes. Running lidless will increase your evaporation rate exponentially, but the advantage to running pendant style lights, is easier heat management.

So i guess it comes down to what size you want, how much you want to spend, what kind of corals you plan on keeping. and if you like the look of a closed canopy system or dont mind running an open top .
