I am starting up a nano reef to take with me to college. It is a 3 gallon Eclipse system that has built in filter and bio wheel. I know the risks of this, and am willing to take them. I have been managing a 55 gallon tank for the past 2 years, so I am not new to the hobby. Right now in it I have a small amount of live rock with a mushroom on it, 3 small snails and a Percula clown. My question is: would a shrimp of some sort help clean up the leftover food the clown doesnt eat? Also, a shrimp would add interest. My main concern is the bioload on this small system. Any thoughts/recommendations? Thanks.

3 gal is gonna be too small for the clown :(

You sure? I currently have one in my 55 gallon tank and he has hardly grown in 2 years. Oh well, if he gets to big I could dump hin there. Anyway, onto my initial question. I have another idea: would 3 blue legged hermits do a better job at cleaning than 1 shrimp?

welll then give it a try :) i would steer clear of hermits, get a mexican turbo and the cleaner. i think the turbo should be able to handle the algae in a 3 gallon by himself, and you have the cleaner to eat left over food.
