Hey guys - I'm posting this to get some ideas, for down the road in a month or so. I'm currently restoring my tank from Old Tank Syndrome that set in while I've been out of state working for the past few years, so once I get everything straight I'd like to add some new, interesting fish.

Its a 55g tank, pH should be around 7 with slightly hard water, once I get it back to where it should be.

That being said, current residents include my prized Clown Loach about 6 inches now (I know, please don't lecture me on needing a bigger tank for the Clown. I know, he needs a bigger tank, and I also know that he belongs in a school. I purchased this fish as a Noob back in 2003 with a school of Clowns. I plan on upgrading to a 120 or bigger in the spring for this fish, and possibly adding a couple more Clowns if space permits, for his benefit).

Other fish include: 7 ottos, 1 Keyhole Cichlid, 2 Blue Rams, 1 Clown Pleco, 1 Festivum, 2 Pearl Gouramis, 6 Khuli Loaches.

I'm looking for something different, that can maybe be the centerpiece of the tank. The tank still looks fairly empty. Was also considering doing a pair of Angels, although I've had them several times before. Was thinking some other mellow cichlids, semi/community style cichlids like the ones I currently have, would be nice. Thinking about going more towards South American species, even though I know I have a few Asian fish in there currently. But I'm open to Asian fish too and possibly swinging more that way if the fish fit the bill.

Also possibly considering some schooling fish?

I feel like I should have room for a few more fish, but I do not/will not over stock the tank. I'm open to any and all suggestions! Really would like to add something that makes the tank "pop" be it with color or the activity of the fish or whatever.

Also suggestions on stocking limits are helpful too. Its been awhile since I've stocked my tank sufficiently.

Thanks for your help!

Actually...a school of something would work and fill the space...had to give this more thought.

I agree...maybe you have a different definition but most of your tank houses what I would consider to be "centerpiece" fish, minus the Otos, kuhlis and the clown pleco.

I say add a nice school of whatever 8-10ish barbs/rasboras/tetras you think look best.

Yeah, I sort of thought about that. A lot of these guys I have prob would be considered centerpiece type fish. I just feel like I need something that stands out more. Maybe a school would add the action I need. Although, since some of these guys are cichlids, they're a blast to watch. Still thinking about adding two Angels possibly...

I can never decide on a schooling fish. I'd like something with some color though.
