i know this sounds odd but i have my fish tank in my bedroom where i got an aquaclear submersible heater. it is soooo annoying when the sensor engages the heating unit, as it makes a loud click! it then clicks when the temperature has been regained from its set level. i really hate that sound. otherwise, it works great, so if it werent for that click, id keep it. but that click is really starting to bug me.

is there a heater out there that does not click when it engages? if so, please let me know! honestly, it annoys me heavily when i am studying, reading, or sleeping! it has to go! if it helps, i need something in the 100-150 watt range.

note: would have put this in the products and diy section, but i want it here so more people can see it and respond! so i kindly ask that it not be moved so i can resolve this issue! thanks.

I have a Rena Cal Top Light Excel 200 Watt submersible heater. It's in my bedroom. I never hear a thing.

Visi-therm Stealth. Completely silent and blends in well with it's black plastic and no "on" light.

Visi-therm Stealth all the way! I have a Stealth 250W and it is an amazing heater. No sound, no light, and it looks great.

anyone else? are the marineland neptune heaters good or are they noisy or just piueces of garbage?

Another vote for the stealth...

They also come with a handy little feature that allows them to automatically shut off when not imersed in water. That, and the fact that they are not glass, makes them very durable.

hmmm, seems that the consensus is for the stealth heaters. are the visi-therms, the ones in the regular glass, any good or are they junk? i only ask cause they are on sale at a nice price at big als today...

Try the Freshwater Products and DIT forum. They might have more.

:iagree:

I've got 2 Visi-therm stealth heaters and they both work like a charm. I have to agree with everyone above that it really is the best way to go. The auto-shut off and the black plastic (not glass!) alone are the main reasons I got them, but you can't hear a thing when they're running.
