I hope I am not breaking any rules here by doing this, if so, please email me...

OK, so the whole long sob-story :sad ...I'm in the military and will have to go on this next rotation to Iraq. I will most likely be there for 14 months and my sister can't take care of my tanks for so long. Decided to sell the fish tanks on e-bay, with the disclaimer "If you do not intend to keep the fish already living here, please email seller before bidding" so that if I had to find a home I could get to work on it during the auction. Well, the winning bidder of my salt-water tank decided that they were going to have the tank drilled, etc. and it won't have water in it for that time. Apparently they do not have another tank already set up. And I'd tell them it's their problem, but I don't want them to flush my fish. So now, I have until Saturday to find a new home for
3 bar gobies
Undulated Trigger
Picasso Trigger
(yes, i know they shouldn't live together, but the triggers are babies and I was going to buy a HUGE tank for my birthday.)
Anyway, they need a home by Saturday, and I am at a loss. I don't want to just take them back to the lfs, and I want them to be happy.
If anyone on this board knows anyone who would be good parents to these soon to be orphans in the Oceanside/San Diego and all other areas close by, I would appreciate your help.
I will give them to whoever will provide a good home for them. I'd even be willing to drop off if it wasn't entirely too far way (I just want a good home for my fish)
Please post or email me ASAP if you or anyone you know can help me.
Thank you,
Daleen

If I don't find anything else, would you be willing to walk me through the shipping process? I'd be a little concerned since with the holiday season EVERYONE is trying to ship stuff and I'd worry they'd be there in shipment for too long. Anyway, if that becomes what I need to do to get a good home for my fish I'll do it, you'll just have to help me so I know what I need to do.

My Opinion

Hi there.

(Sorry to hear you're going to Iraq.)

About those fish. If I were you, I'd give/sell them to your LFS. It would be better for you and your fish. You'd know that they are alive and they'll (eventually) get a home. It's better than shipping them off, not knowing if they'll make it or not. I don't mean for this to sound corny but, they are "living creatures." They'd probably in shipping to long and be stressed out.
....Just my opinion.

Best Wishes (on your trip) and Happy Holidays.

I sent an email to WARLOCKGP, and if his tank is cycled (looks like he only set up in early Dec.) he gets the fish. Otherwise they will still need a home, so please keep posting, just know that WARLOCKGP has "dibs" if his tank is ready for fish.

To Shadoe: about shipping the fish, I was worried about that, too. thank you for your input, that helps me in deciding I will not go that route.

Sumthinfishy- Thats cool with me with your decision, it would be safer especially this time of the year.
Shadoe- just curious but how do you think fish get from where they are collected to the local fish stores? They get shipped in plastic bags filled with natural O2 and can live in their bags for up to 48 hours. They are living creatures but they would be dead living creatures if shipped any other way. The technology has greatly improved on shipping fish as now they ship with heat packs and or cool packs to keep their temp right depending on the time of year. I understand your view point, it just seemed like from your orig post like it was cruel to ship them. That might have just been my view, but anyway hope this helps and good luck sumthinfishy in Iraq and finding homes for the fishies.
Warlock or anyone- just make sure you know how much of pure terrors Undulates can be especially as they grow, just giving you all advanced warning. Hope this helps.
