need advice on small aquarium

How big is the one you have? I used to have those. The only creatures I'd keep in it are bettas, shrimps or snails. Plastic tanks scratch easily. I'd use them as quarantine or hospital tank if you don't have one yet.

Use fluorescent and stick with Java moss for their hiding place. Java moss is not demanding and will grow quite quickly.

Great idea, Lup. I wouldnt go all out and put white clouds, just keep it to shrimp and snails.
As for lighting, a bendable table lamp would work quite well. I remember reading up on a different forum about this 27watt daylight table lamp available at home depot that many people used.

You could keep it next to a window. Not anywhere near direct sunlight, though. This works great for low light plants, but my only complaint is that sunlight tends to bring out the work in things. Ya know, all those scratches and particles in the water.
Either way, java moss will grow fine. You could even buy a small bottle of ferts.
