Hi everyone, im the new guy here. Just wondering if I could get some sugjestions for different types of fish that would be compatable with my Fancy Gold Fish, they are large. And I have one Loache.

I want some variety.

:D Welcome!

Before we can give you recommendations, we'll need to know your tank size, and what other fish you have in the tank now (what kind of loach? exactly what kind of goldfish?)

I have a 55 Gallon Tank

3 Large Comets
3 Moores (One is very large)
1 Loaches, im not sure what type he is, I have it down somewhere. But he dosen't bother anyone.

Species Spacific Info

Comets need about 50 gallons EACH. Just for 3 comets, you'd be looking at a 150 gallon tank... realistically put, a smaller pond.

Fancy Goldfish need about 20 gallons for the first fish, then 10-15 gallons per additional fish. So for your three fancies, you'd be looking at a 55 gallon tank... hey, that’s what you have now! :D

Loaches require a group many times... but it depends on the species. Some species get very large too. You should know what you have, it would help us greatly!

Sizes

Comets get about 12-16 inches. Close to two feet long isn't uncommon in fully-grown comets.

Fancy Goldfish get 10-12 inches usually and are very round-ish in shape. This makes it hard for them to turn around in smaller setups.

loaches, as I said it depends on which kind of loach you have. Some get 4-5 inches, others get over a foot long!

Do you see why your setup is not adequate for all these fish? Sure, it "looks" like it could work now, but these fish are nowhere near fully-grown yet.

I bought the comets at petsmart and they said they would not grow to big in a tank.

They haven't gottan to much bigger over the past 2 years. And they are very happy.

So do you just believe in one source then? You don't research for yourself and the health of your animals??

Don't buy into anything a chain store or ANY local fish store says before you read up. These fish will stop growing, but thats called stunting. It stops their external growth, but their internal organs continue to grow, eventually killing the fish. :(

I'm not telling you this for my health, or yours for that matter. You need to get these fish the room needed to fully grow or they WILL die... maybe not too soon in a 55 gallon aquarium, but they certainly won't grow to potential and will not live 15-20 years as they should.

At 2 yrs of age, they have some more growing to do (lots more).
