Need help building out a plant storage tank

I'll leave it open for now. Maybe I can track down the right glass canopy for it at some point.

I'd stay away from plexiglass. If any UV hits it, it will craze over time. You will also see warping w/ a breeder shaped piece. I'd go for glass or nothing at all.

I built a quicky canopy mostly from scraps. Setup 4 incandescent fixtures (I can fit a bunch more) and am using 4 27W daylight spirals.

Looks like a decent amount of light. I will be using excel until I can can the parts to hook it up to the CO2 tank.

I know it is ugly, but here are some pics. Remember I built the stand and hood from scrap I had laying around.

Also, I can get 20 fixtures in there with 27W bulbs. 540 watts over 30G, that would be funny.

Actually the hood is very light. It is a little bulky because I needed to have the height for the bulbs.

I thought of this thread at the LFS... they had a coral tank for storing corals, and had built plastic shelves out of lighting grid material, like in drop ceilings, and they stepped back... it made a lot of room... something to consider

FYI the light paneling is called eggcrate and is very common in the reefers world.. but in the planted tanks or growouts, they dont fare so well because the plants slip right througn them and sit on the floor

nice work.. keep us posted on how the plants grow :D
