Need help stocking a 15 Gal. tank

Right now I have: 6 Zebra Danios, 1 Pentazona Barb, and 1 Bleeding heart Tetra. I want to take the Danios back to my LFS. They're neat fish but I think they're too active for my tank now that I'm starting to add more fish it seems like they need more space.

I've read that the Pentazone Barb and the Bleeding Heart Tetra are schooling fish. Should I add one more of each? I was told that a Cory could be used as a bottom feeder to help clean up excess food. Is there a specific type of Cory I should be looking at for a 15 gal. tank? I only want peaceful fish that won't grow too large.

Any other suggestions for fish would be appreciated. This is my first tank. I want to keep it somewhat colorful, but also peaceful.
 
As a schooling fish they will want to be in groups of 6 or more to display their real personalities and feel completely comfortable. I'm not sure about the cories though... Someone else will have to recommend something..
 
panda cories stay fairly small, about 2 inches....there are other types of cories that stay on the smaller size, but I'm not sure which those are.

I have 5 panda cories in a 15 with 4 male fancy guppies, 1 black kuhlii loach, 2 ghost shrimp and 1 white cloud minnow (an accidental edition, it snuck into the bag with the cories when I bought them :rolleyes: )

I use a sponge filter and a mini penquin for filtration, along with an airstone. Seems to be working well, but I do 1-2 water changes a week, just because I'm fussy. I'm planning on getting a larger powerfilter for it and still keep the sponge...can never have enough filtration IMO...
 
i dont know how big those barbs get, but bleeding hearts get too big for a 15, especially in a scholl which they should be in. any cories besides the BIG ones (i think that is the bronze, green, mayeb a couple others) should be fine. pandas arent too hardy, so i would go with something like a julii or albino (the non albino is the peppered cory). here is a pic of my lone (yes i realize i just said they should be in schools) bleeing heart. it is about 3 inches long. it is in the background. the bichirs in the pic were about 4" and 5" at the time. bleeding hearts are just too big for such a small tank.

I am not familiar with the tetras so only will comment on the cories... there are 3 dwarf varieties that would love a 15 gallon (c. habrosus, c. hastatus, c. pygmaeus). Pandas do stay small but are not as hardy as some others. They also prefer to be in groups of at least 3 so be sure to figure in the adult size when picking out the ones you want. They will also need to be fed, don't expect them to do well on leftovers.

I've had no problems with my pandas...... :huh: I feed them shrimp pellets and occasional frozen bloodworms and live black worms...

I did have two of them completely dissappear on me though, when I first bought some.....I suspect foul play from the other two I had in the tank...lol....I still haven't been able to find out where they buried the bodies....but I added three more to tank and no problems so far....lol....
 
i would go with 4 pacu's and a great white, no J/K
